Laboratory of River Morphodynamics II
Located in Agrópolis Building at UPC's facilities in Viladecans, the Laboratory of River Morphodynamics II is part of the Hydraulic, Maritime & Environmental Engineering section of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. It consists of 3 experiments called, The Cube (360l/s), Delta (tides and deltas 50l/s) and Dunes (50l/s). In this laboratory, techniques of protection against erosion in bridge piers and other elements of the river are studied, as well as protection against erosion in high mountain streams, formation of deltas and the formation of tidal flows, morphodynamics of flow bifurcations, submerged panels with solid transport, dune dynamics, etc.
Training
Only Bachelor's and PhD. theses, as well as postgraduate projects, are carried out in the Cube and Dunes spaces.
Research
The main research activities carried out are:
- Flow bifurcation phenomenon.
- Submerged ceilings against the Bulle effect.
- Stability of high slope beds.
- Erosion in steep bridge piers.
